"Concert for Young People - Columbia Band Goes South of the Border" Columbia, Maryland, September 27, 2004--The Columbia Concert Band will be performing its annual "Concert for Young People" under the direction of Mr. Michael Blackman on Sunday, October 10th at the Atholton High School Auditorium, 6520 Freetown Road, Columbia, Maryland. The concert begins at 3:00 p.m and is open to the public. Admission is free and no tickets are required. This is a concert for Children and Families to enjoy. The program will celebrate Hispanic musical heritage: Sketches of Spain (Black), Spanish Fever (Chattaway), Caravan (Saucedo), Latin Carnivale (Lopez). The Columbia Concert Band is a non-profit community band that has been performing for local communities since 1983. The band's purpose is to give non-professional musicians the opportunity to perform challenging band literature while entertaining the public in the Baltimore and Washington regional areas. The Band is affiliated with Howard Community College, which gives credit to students for band participation. |
